The Bushes of Blanco, And Other Cat Adventures…

Kiki's Corner

Oct 3, 2014 by Kiki 17 Comments

My people have been hounding me to blog since I haven’t posted since we were in Cedar Key in January.

Hounding.

As if ‘hounding’ is effective encouragement for a cat!

I’ve been busy – way too busy to blog.

But if it gets them off my back and earns me a few treats, I guess I can take a few minutes to catch everyone up with my adventures this year.

And there have been plenty of adventures – we’ve traveled from one side of the country to the other!

Summoning spring in Georgia.
Summoning spring in Georgia. I get the job of ‘guard the chair’ sometimes.
The Mississippi River sure is big!
The Mississippi River sure is big – watching for barges.
That's still the Mississippi River?!?! Were does all that water come from?

My project this past month while we have been visiting Cape Blanco has been staring at bushes.

Getting to spend some quality time at Cape Blanco has been awesome – Cape Blanco has the best bushes!

My humans don’t seem to get it – they’d rather watch flat glass surfaces on their desk or in their hands. Or sometimes they go out to watch the lighthouse spin, or the sun set.

But… bunnies never hop out of a glass screen! And moles and shrews never jump from the glass straight into their mouthes either – not that I’ve ever seen anyway. Maybe the new ‘iOS ate’ version they have been talking about fixes that?

Whenever my people didn’t need supervision and I could spend time outside, I’d sit for hours staring at the bushes waiting. It was so exciting. I even made my own little nest at my favorite vantage point. But I couldn’t sit in one place too long – there were too many little holes where adventure might pop out at any time.

It has been a glorious month.

But it is time to move on. New bushes and critters await somewhere down the road. And I have told my people to take me to the southwest this winter, where I am hoping to find some awesome lizards to meat.

Hi Kiki, from The Mighty Bus and Astrid, Carmella and Tikita. We hope to be able to get out of the bus sometime soon for walks and outdoor adventures. We have been a couple of places where it might have been OK, we just aren’t used enough to it yet. We were house kitties before; you have always been a bus kitty.
Maybe your mom and dad can link to our blog and you can keep up with us.

Travelling from a cat’s eye view. Now that’s the way to experience it. We enjoyed your thoughts and impressions of the road Kiki. Too bad they made you wait so long to share the memories. Tell them to at least give you a quarterly slot, if not a monthly blog … 🙂 Hope you’re keeping a journal of your adventures, as we are eagerly awaiting your next post!

Oh Kiki…you are so wise and well-traveled. And you have trained your humans so well. You are an example for all cats worldwide. We bow our paws to you.

You’ve got you people pretty well trained too.. I’m impressed. I picked up a few tips on how to better control my humans.

    Kiki,

What brand of chair are you sitting on in the Georgia pic? That looks nice!

Did you get your people to find a place to chill for a bit? They are working way too hard!

    Love the book!

Glad you’re enjoying the book… now my people have more time to worship me!

My grandmeow got us those chairs, they’re pretty spiffy. They’re the ‘anti gravity’ kind.. which should mean they’re good for outer space travel, right?

Well, KiKi… It seems that Foots totally envies you! Yeah… She gets to WISH she could nab those hummingbirds feeding just outside the window, but alas, she just doesn’t know how to transmorgify herself through the glass! One day soon — we HOPE! — she will be out there with you, chasing moles and voles and critters in the Great West and other places!

Meanwhile, she’s curled up on my bed… With her doggie buddies, Lilly & Chloe. 😉

I do love a good nap too! Tell Foots that if she does things to annoy her people, they usually let us cats outside to get us to quit being annoying. I found my people act a lot faster when I start banging the mini blinds around, or throwing things off tables.

Kiki, you’re such a traveler. A lot of cats are envious!

There’s a lot of great bushes and critters out there to stalk. I hope all cats get a chance!

See? That wasn’t so hard! Glad you enjoyed your travels across country. Your humans are so lucky to have your guidance. Seems your chair at the Wynns’ was hardly worthy of your station – you are so tolerant of “them” sometimes. Have fun on your way to the Southwest!!

Humans are tough to keep in line.. I’m just glad I was able to keep them on track. Oregon really does have great bushes.

Rosie and Kiki could be soul mates, their habits look identical! Of course that could never happen because Rosie is not friendly with other cats, or dogs…and she is cared to death of any LARGE animals! I do think this traveling lifestyle is ideal for cats!

Traveling is great for us cats. I hope to see Rosie someday, even if from afar.
