Change Your Office View: Full Time RVing Workspace Examples (Part 2)

RVing Work Life

Jun 2, 2014 by Cherie Ve Ard 3 Comments

Adapting to living on the road in an RV means adjusting to small house living. That’s tough enough. But if you’re working on the road from your mobile home, that also means finding a way to comfortably setup desk space.

We started this series last year, and have been collecting more case studies of awesome mobile office designs folks are actively using in their RV setups.

Here’s the second round of brand new profiles to help inspire ideas for creating a mobile workspace. Click on the headers or photo to learn more about how each RVer overcame their space challenges to create a thrivable workspace:

We hope that you’ll enjoy this series, and it helps inspire ideas for what is possible for carving out an income producing workspace in an RV. I know I’m loving collecting all these fantastic stories!

Thank you to everyone who has shared their office space to help inspire others! Would you like your RVing workspace featured? Send an e-mail to contact@technomadia.com, using the other listings as a general template for the information we’d like to showcase (please attach photos to the e-mail, not embed them in a document). Thanks – we’d love to show off what you’ve done too!

‘The Mobile Internet Handbook’ Campaign Update

Our awesome new logo for 'The Mobile Internet Handbook'
Our awesome new logo for our mobile internet suite!

We’re on the final count down of the campaign  to fund the re-write and expansion of our book, The Mobile Internet Handbook.  Just over 3 days left!!

The next chapter to fund is ‘Entertainment’ – we hope to be able to cover topics like streaming video, alternatives to watching media, satellite TV and online gaming!

We’re so excited and over-joyed with the support you have shown us! We never imagined nearly 200 folks would be willing to entrust us with your hard earned dollars to pre-purchase a copy of the book so that we can super focus on doing this right!  Thank you thank you thank you!

As a reminder.. if you were interested in the Premium Membership program (which we’re currently calling the ‘Mobile Internet Aficionados‘), we will not be accepting new members until we officially launch it (sometime in July). The only way to get in early is by joining in the next 3 days!

Playing around with T-shirt ideas!
Playing around with T-shirt ideas!

The 60+ founding members are already getting weekly newsletters of mobile internet news & analysis, and will be getting sneak peaks of book content as we research & write it.  It’s bonus time on the annual membership!

We have test equipment already arriving (such as new 5-band LTE boosters, new WiFi repeating equipment/firmware) – that we will be sharing initial findings exclusively with the membership.

If you want to ‘be in the know’, we encourage you to join now via the campaign!  We have a $39 add-on membership available for those who have already pre-purchased a copy of the new book.

Thank you again for your support.. we can’t wait to deliver you an awesome resource!

PS. There WILL be a T-shirt!!  All of our generous ‘Full Supporters’ and ‘Mobile Enthusiasts’ will get one automatically as our thanks. As soon as we finalize the design, we’ll also be setting up ala-carte sales of the shirt independent of the campaign so that we can offer it more affordably without absorbing campaign fees. Stay tuned! We want to create something any mobile & connected nomad would love to wear!

Did you find a way to put your PC on a 12 V vs 110 which takes up too much power? If so, I would love to know how. I have a 1000 watts of solar but also need power for my van AC and starlink

I don’t recall what we had back then.. but we both have Apple laptops these days that can be powered over 12v/USB.

One tip now is to look for laptops that can be powered over USB-C. All Mac laptops can, and a lot of others now as well.

There are plenty of high-power 12V to USB-C PD adapters that make it easy to power laptops directly off of 12V now. Look for ones that say 60W or higher output, and check the reviews to make sure people are able to charge laptops. Some chargers are only really meant for phones and tablets, but there are plenty that are laptop friendly too.
