Full Time RVing Workspaces: Where the Hell Are We

461x346x2012_1203_RV0002.jpg.pagespeed.ic.avfunU9TSKNames: Pauline & ToRn

Website: http://wherethehellarewe.com

Occupation: Book Keeper/Assistant & Independent Contractor

RV: 2002 Holiday Rambler Admiral 32PBD (motorhome)

On the Road Since: February 2013

Workspace Goal: To convert the sofa & dinette area into a dual workspace for two geeks on the road.  We wanted to put a long desk there  to work, eat, watch TV and get a good view of wildlife (we’ve seen bobcats sitting at our desk). Since that is how we spent most of our waking time in every place we’ve called home… in our office.

Before:

The starting place… typical RV sofa & dinette.

We found pieces to make our desk at Ikea — two Alex 5-drawer units, two Ullrick table legs with storage and three Vika Furuskog table tops, all for under $500.  Since we like our desk a bit higher then normal, we attached 2x3s to the legs and then attached the table tops to the those.

After:

The long desk replaced the dinette and sofa, creating two workstations.

With this work area on a slide out, it seems it would be awkward to sit in a chair that is half on the slide and half on the main floor of the motorhome. Just wondering if this a problem or not…we have a slide out that we have considered changing out to computer stations too (not that we work on the road, but we are on our computers all the time it seems….) –Dave
