Feeding a Cat on the Road (Robotic Wi-Fi Controlled Food Dispenser!)

Cruising / Boating (March 2017 - present) Gear Kiki's Corner Tech Reviews Vintage Bus (June 2011 - present)

Oct 6, 2018 by Kiki 6 Comments

Hi guys.. it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post.

But I wanted to introduce you to my new best friend – I call him ‘Robot’.

I like food. I like it a lot.

My first robot – PetMate LeBistro. I’ve had this since 2011. It’s now my boat-bot.

When we got our bus back in 2011, my people bought me an automatic food dispenser called the PetMate LeBistro.

It’s all battery powered, so even if the bus doesn’t have power I still get fed.

They said I needed it because they didn’t like me dancing on their heads at night to bed to ask for a midnight snack. Robot fixed that, and keeps me company at night while my servants sleep.

They then tend to me during the day by feeding me wet food.

It’s worked out well.

When we bought the boat and would be moving between the bus and boat, we had a new problem.

Do we transport the robot back and forth with us? With a little MINI Cooper to move us between them, Chris and Cherie were concerned with how much space robot would take up (it didn’t concern me, there’s nothing more important than feeding the cat.)

Back of the MINI.. I think there’s plenty of room for a robot too! Plus, I could eat while driving.

So, they decided to get a new feeder for the bus – and this one is Wi-Fi controlled!  It’s the PetSafe Smart Feed, which they got on Amazon (which is also where my food comes from – they deliver it in 2-days wherever we are!).

It’s pretty cool – my favorite feature is that my people can remotely give me a snack if they’re running late for dinner time.

But as usual, they have complaints about EVERYTHING.

Like the metal bowl makes the food drop sound like a jackpot (well.. duh.. it IS a jackpot! A jackpot of FOOD!!!) and that I found where the manual feed button is (they quickly found how to disable that in the feeder’s app, grrrrr).

Anyway, back when we were on the bus last they had me film a ‘review’ of the new Wi-Fi controlled robot.

Here it is:

I’ve been using the original robot back on the boat – and I’m looking forward to returning to my fancy robot later this year!

Anyway, I hope you’re doing well. I don’t post on the blog much anymore – as I spend most my time posting over on Patreon these days for my fans.

In the ‘Kiki Fan Club‘ I share about the YouTube videos I’m watching (did you know they have channels JUST for cats?!?!) and my latest training efforts to qualify to GO TO THE MOON as part of #dearmoon!!

Much Love,

– Kiki

Hi kiki! I have a silly human question for you. We’re considering RV life and taking our kitty with us. He would be an indoor cat. How do we keep our kitty cool or warm during the different seasons if he’s in the RV while we’re out and about?

Dear Kiki: You’re very lucky to have a food robot! I recently got a water fountain that is helping me drink more. It also keeps my water cleaner. The hoomans say that is good for my kidneys. I don’t understand that, just as long as it keeps me away from the awful vet!

We have TWO always hungry cats so this was interesting to me. Ours would knock that thing over, pillow and all and get into the food, so I don’t think it would work for us, considering we have two. We can certainly relate to the walking on your head at night…butt in face usually. 🙂 Great video.

Kiki, it’s nice to hear from you again. You are one smart kitty and have smart parents. Have you told your mom and dad they could put something (paper towel?) in the bottom of your bowl and it wouldn’t be so noisy when your food comes out?
