It’s Snowing!!

Vintage Bus (June 2011 - present) Work Life

No no no.. Florida hasn’t gotten THAT cold.

Arriving to the office of Boondock Marketing to start our WordPress theme install.
Arriving to the office of Boondock Marketing to start our WordPress theme install.

But it’s been Snow(ing) here on Technomadia.com as Jason & Kristin Snow of Boondock Marketing have been giving us a nice coat of fresh paint.

It’s been super fun connecting with these guys these past several weeks. They hit the road last year in their super sweet restored vintage Airstream with their three pups, and decided to come join up with us here in Cedar Key.

They run their marketing company remotely as they travel, and as we got to know them – we knew they were the right people to present our problem to.

Technomadia 2.0 (originally rolled out in Nov 2011). It's served us well.. but good bye!
Technomadia 2.0 (originally rolled out in Nov 2011). It’s served us well.. but good bye!

See, Technomadia has been growing. Not just in readership (thank you!), but in content.

After nearly 7 years of blogging about our life on the road, we’ve created a LOT of content.  Some of it quite useful.  And it’s been getting more and more difficult to keep it accessible without being overwhelming.

After all, what good is putting effort into creating if no one can find it?

We wanted a fresher look, something responsive to mobile devices and something that allowed us to keep our personal style while better positioning all the variety of content we create – video interviews, technology reviews, mobile internet options, logistical advice, etc.

And they got exactly what we were looking for.

Introducing Technomadia 3.0!
Introducing Technomadia 3.0!

So, yesterday we set them free on rolling out the new WordPress theme and design.

If you’re reading this in e-mail or RSS reader – go take a peak over at:

Technomadia.com

There’s still lots of tweaking left to do and new features to implement – but we really like the new look, and the flexibility this new Bootstrap backed theme will give us to continue to grow.

[quote_center]Besides, change is fun![/quote_center]

Let us know what you think!

    Greetings from Tampa!

So did you happen to get any snow flurries from Wednesdays storm? It was a perfect day to drop in at Tony’s Seafood for a bowl of their clam chowder. If you haven’t tried them yet, give them a try, my wife and I try to get up there a few times a year.

No snow here, but it was darn icky weather.

I tried Tony’s chowder last year – but Cherie doesn’t eat mammal or gluten, and Tony’s has bacon and flour in it so it is off her list. And I generally don’t care for shellfish, so though I enjoyed a bowl it isn’t on my list to try again.

We do enjoy Tony’s chicken cheese-steaks though!

      Cheers, and stay warm!

      – Chris

I like it. And it looks like it might work well with the transition from my website to WordPress. My website is mostly static information (relative to blogs), so this looks like a good way to organize and also account for Mobile. I like the first panel, but it is not immediately obvious that you can page through topics there…..

Just stumbled upon one of your older chat vids on youtube tonight (Realities & Myths of fulltime…).
I must say I enjoyed it! I figured I’d come check out and see your site. Very nice 🙂 I see your back in Cedar Key! I guess you found a nicer place to stay up there- LOL! I am a couple hours south of there. We are not full time RVers, just occasional weekenders with a small popup. Personally I LOVE the road (I’m an ex trucker) and admire those of you who can pull it off! Good luck with your new look! And I adore your Bus!

(You’re welcome.) It made the trip through the intertubes and probably skipping a couple of times off the ionosphere and through some satellites and under ocean cables right into the rainy jungle here in Hawaii. So as far as I see, its perfect! WordPress is the way to go.

Awesome! We love WordPress, have been using it for many years – and this new theme structure gives us a lot more flexibility. Aloha!

Not too bad.. considering this morning it could take up to a minute to load 🙂 Hopefully it just gets better and better as we tweak things. Thanks for stopping by!

I like the looks. It looks like it will be easier to find things as well. Will we still get the blog?

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘will we still get the blog’? This is still a blog 🙂 If you’re subscribed by RSS or e-mail, nothing should change there.

Love the new look and how accessible all the information is: past, present and featured. Also, the archive section is great. Search box helps find everything but I would agree with others that overall the site has gotten slower to load. But I understand there are trade-offs.

It’ll get faster… we’re playing around with a lot of caching issues behind the scenes now 🙂

It seems slower to load — remember some of your readers are frequently on slow connections. (My connection speed here is better than average for me.) At least it doesn’t have the “all the world is microsoft” assumption of some sites, and works in iceweasel.

Thanks.. as we’re on mobile bandwidth ourselves and been having general connectivity issues, it’s hard to tell what is actually ‘slower’. Boondock Marketing is working to speed things up for us.
