Ramblings: Tales from Nomads – Intense Lives

Ramblings

Aug 7, 2013 by Cherie Ve Ard 1 Comment

Meet Gillian

Photo courtesy of Sarah Janssen (www.happyjanssens.com)

We met Gillian, a nomad at heart, at the NuRVers April 2010 gathering in Gonzales, TX. When we caught up with her for this interview, she had been RVing the US for about 9 months.

As a single woman.

With her two kids.

In this interview she talks about living on the road raising her kids on her own, and how she’s overcome not just other people’s sterotypes – but her own assumptions of how others will respond to her.

In total, Gillian and her kids traveled in the RV for 15 months, and then switched to living on a sailboat. And according to her blog, they also spent some time living in Hawaii after that. In a recent catch up with her, we learned that they’ve now returned to their homebase in Trinidad to focus on creating a sustainable homestead promoting locally grown foods.

We think you’ll agree, she’s one brave, inspiring and adventurous woman.

Doesn’t look like Gillian has posted since last December. Probably won’t be posting anymore since moving to Trinidad is my guess. Seems like quite a lady.
