Less Than 2 Days To Go! Let’s Kickstart this Doc!

In the Media Vintage Bus (June 2011 - present)

Aug 27, 2012 by Cherie Ve Ard Leave a Comment

Aug 29 Update: This campaign was fully funded and is now closed. Thank you all for your support!  And *squee* it’s really happening – we’re going to be on the big screen!!

We are super excited to see The Wireless Generation documentary Kickstarter campaign nearing its fundraising goal. And we are so thankful for all of you who have shown your support by pledging some bucks and/or pre-purchasing the movie.

The producers of the documentary (Christine & Drew Gilbert of AlmostFearless.com) contacted us the other day and said they noticed our Technomadia community has contributed more to the project than some major media mentions.. including their Mashable.com feature.

Wow.. you guys are amazing! You have deeply touched our hearts.

Thank you so much for supporting them and us!

If you missed our original announcement – we’re being profiled in an upcoming documentary about nomads who work as they roam. It’s a project that these guys have been working on for over 2 years, traveling the world at their own cost and filming.  They caught us 2 years ago at Burning Man (which by the way, starts today – we are indeed sad to not be there this year)!

Here’s their trailer of the documentary (catch us about mid way through presenting on technomadism at Camp Nomadia):

Drew is nearing completion on editing the film, and they’re raising funds to get the film submitted to film festivals like Sundance starting THIS FALL. They have big goals for inspiring others to live their dreams. We’re thrilled to be part of it and representing the RVing lifestyle!

The picture we submitted for The Wireless Generation cast credits – showing one of our office locations.

Submitting to festivals is a pricey endeavor – actual film has to be produced (to the tune of $2500/copy), festival applications and travel expenses for them to be onsite.

They’ve set up their Kickstarter campaign to give some wonderful rewards to those who pledge – ranging from a post card from Thailand, digital download of the film, DVD with bonus footage (including an interview with the original technomad – Steve Roberts), your name in the credits, an awesome laptop bag, VIP tickets to the screenings and more.

They’re not just asking you for money, this is asking you to pledge to pre-purchase the film so they can have funding NOW to support the next step.

But here’s the thing with Kickstarter, if by Wednesday morning around 4:30am EST they don’t have their minimum $35,000 pledged – your pledge never gets charged.  Which means they get zero – zip – nada.

We don’t want to see this happen to them or the project, and I’m sure any of you who have pledged don’t either.  In fact, we’d love to see them get overfunded so they can submit to even more festivals!

They have less than two days to go, and the below widget will show you how much is left for them to raise:

Just think.. if each of you reading this pledged a couple bucks, our community alone could push their Kickstarter over the top!

Please click to Pledge!

If you’ve already pledged, please consider upping your pledge by clicking ‘Manage Pledge’ on the Kickstarter page- we already have. Three times.

Please help spread the word!!  Share this on Facebook, on Twitter. Tell your friends and family!

And thank you thank you thank you thank you!!
