Help Us Kickstart ‘The Wireless Generation’

In the Media Nomadic Lifestyle Oliver Travel Trailer (July 2008 - May 2011) Uncategorized Vintage Bus (June 2011 - present)

First of all…  SQUEEEEEE!!

We’re going to be in a documentary!!

Ok, had to get the excitement out of our systems.

Almost two years ago, friends, fellow digital nomads and bloggers Christine & Drew Gilbert (Almost Fearless) came to Burning Man to film us at Camp Nomadia for a documentary.  It was a new idea for them at the time, they had just purchased a bunch of new equipment for the project and didn’t have much of a plan for how it would all come together.

I believe we were only the second interview they filmed in their project. They were still figuring out how to work their new camera, and we were all so disorganized that we ended up doing the actual interview in a friend’s larger RV instead of our own (the Oliver was just too small).

We took several breaks so that their darling 9 month year old son Cole could have a snack. (Yes, they brought their 9 month old to Burning Man!)

Two years later, and they are just weeks away from finishing the final edit of the film – with a goal of getting it into a bunch of film festivals later this year!  They’ve got big plans for this project, and we’re super excited for them and the project.

This is real.. it’s going to be a real documentary! Like, the kind you’ll be able to rent on Netflix type of documentary!!

In order to get it ready for submitting to the various film festivals – there’s a lot of of costs upcoming for them. Such as getting it printed to actual film, film festival application fees and travel costs for them to get to each festival.

To help fund these costs, they’ve started a Kickstarter to raise $35,000 (which is a very reasonable cost for producing  a documentary!).  If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter – you’re not just giving them money. You can actually pledge your support upfront of the project by pre-purchasing the documentary and/or other benefits.

They’ve already poured a lot into this project to travel the world these past 2 years filming it and a gazillion hours into producing it.   They only had a little bit of initial fundraising (before Kickstarter was popular) to initially buy the equipment.

If you can upfront them some bucks, I can promise you – it’s going to a great project that will have amazing impacts in helping thousands of people realize their dreams of traveling the world while working remotely.

This documentary is our story… the story of every digital nomad out there currently roaming this planet.

We’re proud to be a small part of it, and to have shared our story.

So head on over to the Kickstarter Campaign, see a brief preview of the film (you may catch a glimpse of us presenting a session on technomadism at Burning Man) and pledge to help them realize the full potential of this film!

Thank you!  (And squee… we’re gonna be in a movie!!)

    Hi Cherie!

Thanks so much for writing about our film! Wow, what an impact — you sent us more backers today than Mashable did with their review! (Kickstarter tracks where everyone comes from, but anonymously). It’s a huge help to have people talking about this, and I’m so excited that your readers — who definitely get what we’re doing — are into the project too!

    Big hugs! XOXO

    Christine
