Vote for our SXSW 2011 Panel on Technomadism!

In the Media Life on the Road

Aug 11, 2010 by Cherie Ve Ard 8 Comments

Earlier this year we made a late entry to SXSW to present on Technomadism (living a fully mobile life utilizing technology), but unfortunately we totally missed the deadline to present.  We ended up ‘not’ attending this past March and met a bunch of absolutely fabulous folks at various meet-ups.

For 2011, we got our proposal in by the deadline – and our feedback from the SXSW staff was that it’s solid and:

The subject of your panel proposal is one that I think speaks to many people in our core community and would encourage people to make changes that could improve their lives.

We’ve brought together an awesome group of technomads, including Ben & Karen, Sean & Louise and the Boyinks. We think we have a good shot at this!

The next step is to get community support which accounts for 30% of the selection process.  And that’s where we’re asking for your help.

Please go vote for our Technomadism panel!

You can vote without creating an account.. but we do get extra points if you create an account and log in to vote and leave comments.

Your support is much much appreciated – cuz how cool would it be to have mobile digital nomadic living represented at a major conference like SXSW???

They’ve now announced that the next batch of panels will be announced on November 8th. Keep your fingers crossed everyone…

Nice to connect with you! Fingers crossed! If you don’t need anyone else, we’ll be participating from the audience! Best of luck with it!

Just discovered your SXSW proposal – and you! – through a tweet on Twitter. So pleased we have. What a brilliant idea! You have our vote!

We were just in Austin for two weeks for our project, Grantourismo (found at http://grantourismotravels.com/ and fell in love with it and were planning to attend SXSW next year.

We’re a 40ish professional travel writer and photographer team who have been living out of our suitcases and working on the road full-time for the past 4.5 years, bouncing around the globe continuously to wherever the work takes us. We no longer have a base, we work for companies all around the world, very rarely meeting our clients, handling all our work online, and 100% of our income is derived from writing, photography, digital content, and videos produced on our MacBooks from wherever we happen to be at the time – everywhere from hotels to (this year) holiday rentals.

In 2010 we are on a yearlong contemporary grand tour we’ve called Grantourismo in which we’re promoting local travel, slow and sustainable travel, experiential travel, and the notion of giving back to the community you’re visiting, whether through volunteering or other small ways.

We’d love to be involved with your panel! Or at the very least, be in the audience – good luck with this proposal!

We’ll be following you here too now.

Hi Lara.. thanks for introducing yourselves! If we get selected for the panel, and they want other technomds represented on the panel, we’ll put your bio on the list. Thanks!

Great to meet you too, and will be checking out your blog.

Voted for your Technomadism panel! Good luck! Sounds way cool. Maybe I’ll catch up with you at Burning Man or elsewhere one of these ol’ days.
