10 Most Popular Holiday Gift Items

Oliver Travel Trailer (July 2008 - May 2011) Technology Work Life

Dec 2, 2009 by Cherie Ve Ard 3 Comments

For those curious about what people are buying this season, I thought I’d share my observations about what are the most popular items being shipping based on what I’m personally packing while we ‘workamp’ in Kansas.

Lots of folks getting cameras for the holidays.. here are some that are most frequent buys and apparently incredible deals right now:

Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Dark Gray)

Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens

Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black)

GPS’s in general are shipping out by the truckload.. here are just a few that I frequently see in large batches.. incredible deals on these things! Just a couple months ago when we were investigating options for ourselves these same models were selling at 2-3 times the price.

Garmin nÁ¼vi 265W/265WT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic

Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor

Garmin nÁ¼vi 855 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator with Speech Recognition

And while I tend to grab the tech stuff (it’s my way of keeping sane.. I love my tech!), I do get crates of toys too. Here are the ones I’m most noticing, and that look both techy and educational:

Vtech Tote and Go Pink Laptop

LeapFrog Scribble and Write

LeapFrog Clickstart My First Computer

And for my least favorite item to package but lots are shipping

Apple iPod touch 32 GB (3rd Generation) NEWEST MODEL
(It’ difficult to package because Apple has made the UPC code so incredibly tiny on the package, that it takes for ever to get a proper scan on it. Otherwise, their packaging is uber beautiful.)

And in the department of the weirdest and most entertaining item I’ve packed lots of:

The Mooning Garden Gnome

I couldn’t agree more in regards to the ipod. They used to be pretty easy for me. All of the sudden, in the last week, the darned things have become impossible for me to scan. They have seriously taken me minutes to scan.

    Dear Chris and Cherie,

Hi folks! Tony Slater from England here. I came across your blog quite randomly whilst… actually I can’t remember what I was doing! I’ve spent the entire day reading your past posts, back to the point where you first considered buying Oliver! I have to say, it makes for a fascinating read, very informative on many fronts and thoroughly enjoyable! It also looks incredibly slick… I couldn’t help but head to Thrilling Themes to download the look! I have been considering creating a blog of my own for a while, and though for me this is a totally undiscovered country I now have a prime example of the kind of content and presentation to aspire to. I was interested to note how similar my nomadic philosophy and lifestyle has been to yours over the last few years – albeit considerably less stylish and high-tech! I am currently in New Zealand and am about to head to Australia (with my native girlfriend!), from where I will immerse myself in WordPress for the Unimpressed 101 (Lesson one, page one – What the @%$?? is a WordPress?!). I just thought I’d drop you this quick comment to say thanks very much for inspiring me, and congratulations on your excellent site! I will be eagerly following your adventures as soon as you get done wrapping cameras and bare-faced cheek!
    Kind regards
    Tony James Slater
