Blog Upgrade: Subscribe To Comments

Technology

Apr 10, 2009 by Chris Dunphy 5 Comments

One of the things that I have always loved about blogging on LiveJournal is that it lets you know via email when someone has replied to any comments or blog posts that you make. This email notification encourages blog postings to turn into actual two-way (or three-way, or more-way) conversations in a way that other blogging platforms have never equalled.

In an attempt to bring some of this sort of interactivity to Tales from Technomadia, I have just installed and configured the Subscribe to Comments WordPress plugin.

Now – you will notice a little check box whenever you leave a reply to a post here. If you opt in, you will be notified via email about any future replies to that blog post.

I also considered the similar Comment Reply Notification plugin, but it does not allow readers to ever unsubscribe to comments in the future, a pretty serious limitation.

Subscribe to Comments on the other hand provides a subscription management interface that lets you opt-out easily on a post-by-post basis in the future.

Let me know what you think – feel free to test it out by replying to this post!

Hi Chris! Testing testing 123 ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks for the hair washing tip! Do you make a baking soda/water paste to wash your hair with? And do you actually rinse it with apple cider, or did you mean apple cider vinegar? I’m assuming you really meant apple cider, but I love drinking apple cider so much that I don’t know if I could bear to use it to rinse my hair with instead of drinking it! lol. Also, I would LOVE to make it to Burning Man, but I am starting to think that 2010 would be easier for me to go because I’m planning on already being out that way by then… I will keep you guys posted, it would be great to meet up, Sonja

      Hey Sonja!

      Here’s a link to the no-shampoo info: http://babyslime.livejournal.com/174054.html

It is indeed apple cider vineagar that you use. Looking forward to meeting you as well… take care!

I am replying to the story.

The website looks good in IE6, no major issues that I can see, everything seems to render properly. (Thank you Parallels for letting me run IE6 in a virtual machine and making it look like a regular window).

Reply to this comment so we can test out the system!
