Cherie had visited Carlsbad Caverns in the mid-80s with her family on a road trip, and Chris had never been. We considered it a must stop on this journey across the country. It was even more impressive than Cherie had remembered.

Heading south through New Mexico on our way to White Sands National Monument, we made a slight detour to check out the Three Rivers Petroglyph Site. It made for a much appreciated hiking break, viewing of cool petroglyphs and great scenery.
