On our continued adventure eastward through Arizona following Route 66, we made a lunch stop at Walnut Canyon National Monument, where we hiked down a lot of steps to view the cliffside ruin dwellings of the Sinaqua people. It was a beautiful hike, the only catch being – what goes down, must come up!

We made a last minute detour up to the Grand Canyon off of our Route 66 tour. We found available camping on the South Rim at Mather Campground.

The Grand Canyon is just one of those things that defies words, and you just have to see to experience it.
