January 2012 Update: The trailer below has sold, however we sometimes hear of others that might come up for sale (there were only 45 made, so it’s a rare event).  We do know of a solar powered one, like our Oliver was, that might be available. Drop us a line at us@technomadia.com and we’ll put you in touch with the owners.

PS. We’re not in the business of selling Olivers and stand to make absolutely nothing (but good will) off of helping sell these trailers – we just *loved* ours so much that we enjoy using our Google ranking to help these awesome trailers find new homes.

If you (or anyone you know) would like to own an amazing little RV like ours, we’ve just found out that a rare used Oliver Travel Trailer is up for sale.

Before the Oliver company went into hiatus making these awesome little fiberglass RVs, less than 50 of them had been made. In this down economy there just isn’t enough demand for such a high-end yet small RV. Yet for those that know what they are looking at, the Oliver design is leaps and bounds above anything else out there.

We feel quite fortunate to have lived in a 2009 Oliver (dubbed ‘Orion’), and 3 years of living full time in ours, we can attest that these are awesome and incredibly well built trailers!

Ours still looked brand new when we sold it in May 2011, went up in value and we have never regretted investing in it.

While Oliver plans to eventually make a comeback and resume production, for now – finding an Oliver up for sale is a rare thing indeed. There were only about 45 Olivers ever built.

The trailer up for sale is owned by our friends Chuck & Geri. The trailer was Chuck’s before he met Geri (a Casita owner), and now that they have gotten hitched, they need something larger. They’re traveling further and longer these days, and they travel with multiple pets. They had hoped to get one of the new 22′ Olivers, but with the company on hiatus they can’t really wait any longer.

They absolutely love their Oliver, so deciding to give it up has been a tough decision for them.

Theirs is a 2008 model, the 13th built, has traveled about 35,000 miles, has never been smoked in and is up to date on it’s maintenance – including wheel bearings that have just been serviced. We’ve seen this trailer in person, and it’s in great shape – especially considering dogs travel with them.  The interior has a southwest decor.

Some extra features this units has in addition to all the Legacy Elite standards, include:

    • Shore plug on front for Honda 2000 propane powered generator
    • Extra propane outlet tween the 20# propane bottles for the generator

Graphics are removable - Cat not included

  • 2 extra 110 v outlets and 2 extra 12v outlets
  • Shelf in closet
  • Kingdome Satellite TV package
  • Exterior cell phone booster
  • 10 ply tires with about 2800 miles on them
  • 6 halogen bulbs upgraded to LED
  • 3 extra battery powered LED lites, 2 for ceiling by microwave and reading lite in rear bed/dinette area
  • Marine flooring in bath
  • Fantastic fan with Maxxaire Vent. Can be open while traveling, even in heavy rain
  • Maxxaire louvered vents for both back windows – windows can be open in the rain.

If you could order a trailer new from Oliver configured this way, it’d cost about $36,000.

These trailers were made to last a lifetime, and Oliver stands behind them.

This really is an amazing trailer – it is the best small RV you can find anywhere.

April 2010 Update: This trailer has sold!

it’s funny, this is the second time you’ve posted an Oliver for sale on your site, and both times i thought, “Oh my God, they’ve given up! NOOOO!”

i like that you’re looking at boats. i grew up on a lake and sailed quite a bit, but i never thought about living on one until i saw LOST with Desmond traveling the world with Penny on a sailboat. very cool.

  2. LOL @ Erics comment. Funny you say that because I got the same feeling when I first read the title of the post. Especially since the previous one was talking about nautical nomadia?! :) I hope this Oliver finds good people to call him home.

I asked Sean if he wanted to buy the Oliver and tow it behind Odyssey. He said, “Uh, no way. I don’t want to encourage either mother-in-law to move in with us.”

Tried to get Chuck and Geri’s e-mail from this article, but it wouldn’t come up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are looking to buy a Oliver travel trailer since we came across your website. Which we love by the way. Hope all your travels are safe and fun as the sound like they are.
    Respectfully,
    Steve Kaeseman

I wish this was a little closer. We are all the way in Ca. Do you have photos of the interior?

  6. Terry & Bess says:

How about a special made pontoon deck boat to cruise the inter coastal water ways with the toy & oliver on board …best of both worlds

    Chris and Cherie,
I have been looking a Casita for a while and am new to Olivers. I’m very impressed by what this package has. While it is heavier what I’ve been looking at, I still think is worth considering. Is this trailer still for sale? Could you give me a ballpark of what it might take to buy this beauty.
    Thank you for your reply,
    George Paige (g.paige@att.net)

Hello there. We are looking at becoming a RV owner “First Timers”. LOL. We do want a small RV for our first one and I came across your article and read the whole thing. I know you all sold your Oliver but you mentioned that you know the new owner is looking to sell it since they do not have time to camp. I would like to get more information if it is still available.

Please let me know and keep it rolling :)

  9. Hello,.

Got a tooth pick and staple 5th wheel trailer this summmer and only took a few weeks to understand that like most trailers,, they are made to last just 10 years or so.. The folks that we got ours from paid $12,500 for it just 4 years ago,, and we got it for 1/4 of that and I still feel we got burned on the deal.

Have been looking at Airstreams,, but we live in an area of 2 or 3 major hail storms a year,, and dont want to spend the extra money for a nice Airstream and get it hammered..

Looked at a 1968 Travco fiberglass motor home and even after all the years sitting outside in this area,, no hail damage could be found. Im sold on the concept of fiberglass.. Now to find a larger trailer made with this space age system.
Im done with tooth picks and staple wonders..
    Daniel
