On our continued adventure eastward through Arizona following Route 66, we made a lunch stop at Walnut Canyon National Monument, where we hiked down a lot of steps to view the cliffside ruin dwellings of the Sinaqua people. It was a beautiful hike, the only catch being – what goes down, must come up!

  1. I’m glad Kiki told you about that place. We found it on accident just passing through. We got bored after the long drives, and saw the sign on the map, so we stopped to look. She wouldn’t carry me back up the steps, but we made the best of it.

    Neat place to see!

  2. Wow! We’ve never heard of Walnut Canyon, but now we want to see it for ourselves. What an incredible place to try to eke out a living. Can you even imagine the leg muscles on the ancient Sinaqua?!
