We were in Austin a couple years ago for the half marathon. We stopped at a deli after the race (Manny-Hatten's) and asked our waiter for recommendations on what to see. It was fun hiking those hills after the 13.1 mile run and well worth the visit. We'll have to check out the campground next time we're there.
