On our journey down the Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) of California, we stopped for a day at the base of Morro Rock.   It is part of a series of nine volcanic plugs on  the way to San Luis Obisbo county, and very distinctive looking as you drive into Morro Bay.   The rock sits a bit off the land, but there is a man made road built out to it forming a harbour.  Visitors can get right up to the base of the rock where there is a huge parking lot and facilities.  No rock climbing is allowed, except for the Chumash Indians who have special exemption for their solstice rituals.

We spent the day there walking on the beach, watching surfers and sucking up bandwidth as we worked.    Enjoy our tour of Morro Rock via video:
