We arrived last evening to the playa at sunset.. and it’s absolutely gorgeous here.

Burning Man 2008 Oliver on the Playa

Weather has been mild, didn’t even need the AC this afternoon. Hardly any wind today or dust. Excellent day to setup camp and relax. The city is springing to life around us.

We realized this morning that it’s likely the first morning we woke up in many months where we didn’t have a to-do list, or drive, or check-out time to contend with. It felt awesome.

We have great campmates, great neighbors and it feels good to be still. And we have a giant ketchup bottle behind us serving french fries from dusk to dawn. We have a martini bar to our left, a giant safety cone to our right and flame throwing cannons all around.

The only weird thing is that the playa is unusually soft, making biking anywhere but the roads is difficult.

Oh, and we have currently have wifi at our camp. Awesome!
